Hello from San Francisco, where, for the past five days, I’ve been spending my mornings drinking coffee and writing out my thoughts while bathing my face in the sturdy, earnest Northern-Californian sun. In this light, my thoughts aren’t spiky, nothing feels intrusively urgent, my body doesn’t hurt, everything is doable in some but in no particular way. In the afternoon we are in L.’s studio, where I am working on two new drawings on velvet, for a group show that opens in late March in Germany (details will follow). I can rest, I can refrain from trying to micromanage every step of the way. The way ahead is clear yet undetermined, the only things assured are that I’ll be going somewhere, that I’ll be doing something, and that it will all be right.
